VILLAGE BOYS STILL
Some years ago, Trevor Purnell wrote a wonderful and detailed account of the real people behind the names that we see on the war memorial in the village. What results is a beautifully produced and almost unique record of the real cost of war to a little rural community, and it is very highly recommended.
There are still a number of hardback copies left, and the Purnells are keen that people who do not have one get the chance; they have therefore generously proposed that anyone who would like one can have one for free, but maybe with a discretionary donation to the Royal British Legion. Anyone who would like to take advantage of this offer, please email rmg@dexam.co.uk as soon as possible, stating how many you would like. Once we have all the names in, those copies will be placed in the porch of All Hallows at a suitable weekend, for collection.
