Some years ago, Trevor Purnell wrote a wonderful and detailed account of the real people behind the names that we see on the war memorial in the village. What results is a beautifully produced and almost unique record of the real cost of war to a little rural community, and it is very highly recommended.

There are still a number of hardback copies left, and the Purnells are keen that people who do not have one get the chance; they have therefore generously proposed that anyone who would like one can have one for free, but maybe with a discretionary donation to the Royal British Legion. Anyone who would like to take advantage of this offer, please email as soon as possible, stating how many you would like. Once we have all the names in, those copies will be placed in the porch of All Hallows at a suitable weekend, for collection.
